I'm a bad blogger

I know, I have been terrible about updating, but its really because i've been in melbourne for a while now. I have just been working a lot at a cafe in st.kilda beach called the black orange, and saving up for my next big trip. I'm leaving Melbourne for good on March 4, flying to Brisbane to meet a girl from the UK, and we're greyhounding the rest of the way north up the east coast. we'll be stopping in Noosa, Hervey Bay, sailing around the Whitsunday islands, going to Fraser Island, Magnetic Island, Airlie Beach, Sunshine Coast, and Cape Tribulation to name a few. From there, I'll be flying to Bangkok and hitting up 2 Thai islands. After that, on to Tokyo! I'll put some pictures up soon, as soon as the travelling starts! thanks for looking

just to update on where i've been living....

I was living in St. Kilda beach for the past two weeks (see pictures), but actually got a job waitressing out by the beach but have moved into an apartment in the downtown area of melbourne. I'm now about a 30 minute tram ride each way from work, but its perfect... believe it or not, it got a little old living at the beach~! So, my plan now is to stay and work for a while, save, then go back out backpacking up the east coast of Australia, which should take about a month, stopping in Sydney again, Byron Bay, Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Airlie Beach to see the Whitsunday Islands, Fraser Island, and finally up to Cairns to see the entire Great Barrier Reef. After that, if time and money allows, i'd like to hit up Southeast Asia for a little. But for now, its back to the grind.. WORK. I love my job, its a great cafe called the Black/Orange . I'll get some pictures up soon!

Great Ocean Road Trip

Last week I took a 2 day trip from Melbourne - Port Campbell down the Great Ocean Road. It was amazing. We stopped on the way for lunch at a sight of an inactive volcano that is next to a forest preserve (odd). We saw kangaroos, emus, and koalas. Next we made some stop offs at the Bay of Islands, the Bay of Martyrs, London Bridge, and the grotto before arriving at our hostel. We all (group of 20 independent travellers) cooked dinner together, then went to see the 12 apostles at sunset and see the penguins come out. We then went out to the 1 pub in the town (of 200 people) and then to a beach party. Woke up the next morning and went to see the apostles during the day, then walked through a rainforest before we drove to Apollo Bay where we had lunch before going to Bells Beach. Good times!

greetings from sydney

this place is beautiful. arrived on monday and went down to the darling harbour for some sun and gelato. saw an imax on the deep sea and took it easy. tuesday woke up early and went out to bondi beach for the whole day. it was amazing.. pictures are above. wednesday our koala bear tour got cancelled so we took a boat around the harbour and out to the zoo. took a gondola up and down and saw the entire zoo. it was gorgeous. leaving today back to melbourne. staying in southbank for a few days then out to st. kilda beach. will put up more pics asap! thanks for checking!

yarra valley wineries

went yesterday to 3 wineries in yarra valley... very scenic drive out there. crappy day out but learned a lot. Here are some pics from the winery and federation square - across from where i'm staying now. They have a huge advent calendar and every night there's a really cool show when they take off a day. Going to sydney tomorrow for a few days. will be sure to update with more pictures!

hi blokes. just got back from tasmania. it was hellish. we hated tasmania. i can't stress enough how horrible hobart tasmania really is. we arrived on friday afternoon and took a taxi to the most disgusting hostel ever. i mean awful. there was nothing to really do. On Saturday we walked around the Salamanca market then sat in the park. Sunday we took a horrible "lunch cruise" that was just a waste of money. we went to a karaoke bar one day and met some creepy friends that we soon dropped. anyway, i'm back in melbourne. have a few short trips coming up that i will write about soon. enjoy the pics....later in the week i'm going to phillip island to see the penguins and also to the yarra valley winery.

g'day blokes.... had another fantastic day in melbourne. woke up early and went to the immigration office to get my visa put into my passport, opened a bank account, grabbed a smoothie and headed out to st. kilda beach. my friend david and i played on the beach and tried to make ourselves fly using a towel and the wind. it did not work. walked around st. kilda for a while deciding where i was going to look for a job. going to tasmania tomorrow for a couple of days to see the devils and where they make cadbury chocolate. it was 90 and sunny here today, so the beach was backed. very excited for tomorrow. everything is still backwards. will write more from tasmania....
